Return on Investment (ROI)

Definition(s):

In the financial domain, it refers to profits from activity in a given period compared with the amount invested in it. In other words, it refers to a ratio that measures the return on an investment divided by the invested capital. In the TDM context, the ROI refers to the positive returns from the intentional creation of TD. For example, the ROI of TD can be related to the: value (monetary or non-monetary) that the software company earned by making the software product available earlier on the market; and value saved from the investment of principal in other activities different than ones concerned to the improvement of quality on design-time.
